Kali ini saya nak bincang ringkas tentang CAS number. CAS bermaksud confirmation of acceptance for studies. Apa signifikan CAS number ini? Kalau tak ada nombor ini, maka proses permohonan visa tak boleh diteruskan. Ada satu kolum khas dalam borang permohonan visa berkenaan CAS number ini.
Saya banyak berhubung terus dengan staf di Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi (En. Husin, En Zaman dan Puan Eisya), Prof Eleanor dan staf (Allison Dingwall) di Post Graduate School berkaitan dengan urusan CAS number ini. Mula-mula rasa cuak juga, takut permohonan nombor ni makan masa yang panjang. Pengajian bermula 1 Februari 2012, tapi bulan December 2011, CAS tak dapat lagi.
Saya rasa setelah KPT selesai membayar yuran pengajian di universiti, pihak universiti dengan sepantas kilat akan proses CAS number ini. Oh mata duitan betul universiti di UK ini. No money no talk. Saya mohon dalam masa 1 minggu, terus dapat dokumen melalui email tentang CAS number ini dari pihak universiti.
Sekarang urusan CAS number sudah selesai. Saya sedang tunggu ATAS clearance. Silap saya lambat mohon, sepatutnya sejurus dapat surat tawaran saya terus mohon. Tak apa, masih ada SEDIKIT masa. Ya Allah mudahkan kami.

| What is a CAS number? |
| CAS stands for Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. New UK immigration rules require the University to sponsor your application for a student visa (note that this is not the same as financial sponsorship). This involves the University confirming to the UK Border Agency (UKBA) that we have made you an unconditional offer of a study place at Sheffield, and that you have accepted this. The UKBA will then issue a CAS number for you. They will send this to the University, and we will let you know what this is. |

| Why do I need a CAS number? |
| You will need a CAS number to apply for a visa to allow you to study in the UK. |

| When will the University apply for my CAS number? |
| The University will only apply for your CAS number 1) when it is less than six months until your course is due to start, 2) when you have accepted an unconditional offer of a study place at the University and 3) (for postgraduate taught applicants only) when you have paid any fee deposit we have requested. |

| Do I have to pay a fee deposit before the University applies for my CAS number? |
| If you have applied for a taught postgraduate course and we have asked you to pay a fee deposit, we will only be able to apply for your CAS number when you have paid your fee deposit. |

| I have already accepted an unconditional offer for a course starting in September, but you have not yet emailed me about applying for my CAS number. Why? |
| CAS numbers are only valid for six months, so we will only apply for your CAS number when it is less than six months until your course is due to start. |

| Can I apply for a student visa with my offer letter? |
| No, you can only apply for your visa with the CAS number arranged by the University. |

| Can I apply to the UKBA directly for my CAS number? |
| No. Only government-approved education providers can apply for CAS numbers, on behalf of applicants who have applied to study there. Tumpang tanya, berapa hari utk dptkan ATAS clearance?
Still waiting for mine. They’ve replied saying it would take at least 20 working days. Betoi ka?

Saya mohon ATAS pada 7/12/11, saya dapat ATAS clearence pada 6/1/2012. Hampir 4 minggu permohonan. Namun dalam kes saya, di UK banyak hari yang cuti, cuti Krismas dan tahun baru, itu mungkin menyebabkan tertangguh.Ada 2 kali saya buat request perkembangan ATAS saya iaitu pada 19/12/11 dan 4/1/12, tapi mereka tak reply pun. Saya rasa dalam kes pelajar lain, memang bawah 20 hari, isi permohonan berhati-hati, sebab kalau salah sikit mungkin ganggu proses permohonan. Harap membantu.

Salam, tau tak kenapa CAS number lambat dapat? saya punya dah lebih 20 hari bekerja, exactly dah 29 hari bekerja.saya tak pasti samada saya yg silap atau diorang memang lambat.saya masih belum dapat feedback apa2 walaupun dah emel beberapa orang. Risau sangat sebab tarikh daftar saya 1 may, tinggal seminggu lebih je lagi…sebenarnya email yang mana yang menunjukkan email application CAS number? saya hanya diminta untuk confirmkan maklumat tentang diri saya dlm pre-registration website. itu je.skrg ni xtau nak buat apa

Cuba Ani hubungi supervisor dan pihak universiti terus tentang ini, saya sarankan Ani telefon mereka secara direct secepat mungkin dan tanyakan hal ini, nyatakan tentang kesempitan tarikh yang berbaki dan keperluan CAS untuk urusan permohonan visa. Selalunya jika biasiswa kita sudah diluluskan, maka universiti akan uruskan CAS secepat mungkin. Moga urusan Ani dipermudahkan Allah.
